Expo 2012

Once again the New England Railroad Club welcomes you to join us in Worcester, Massachusetts, for our annual Rail Forum & Expo on March 27, 2012. The Expo provides the opportunity for industry professionals, governmental officials, and even college students in transportation related fields to learn how the New England's rail industry is an essential link in the growth of the region's economy.

This year the Expo is a celebration of the short lines that continue to move New England's economy through perseverance, innovation, and good old Yankee thrift. We are honored to have Richard F. Timmons, President of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association, as our keynote speaker. Richard will touch upon some of the issues currently facing the industry in New England and throughout the nation.

Special Event

Join us as we honor Maggie Silver with the Vincent R. Terrill Lifetime Achievement Award at the Engineering and Transit Night Dinner. Maggie is the daughter of the late Samuel M. Pinsly, a pioneer in the short line railroad industry and founder of the Pinsly Railroad Company. Maggie worked for the company since 1965 and upon her father's death succeeded him as President, then Chairman of the Board, overseeing railroads in Massachusetts, Florida, and Arkansas. She was on the Board of the American Short Line Railroad Association and was the first elected Vice President of the Eastern Region in 1989. At the end of her term she was named director emeritus. Maggie was also a past President of the Railroad Club. We are pleased to have her with us on this night to recognize her contributions to the industry.

What You'll See at the Expo

The seminar program will focus timely topics such as how short lines are working with the region's Class 1 carriers to develop new business, their partnerships with Federal, State, and Local agencies to help rebuild their lines to handle increased traffic, and technological innovations that help them to lower costs.

The popular equipment display will allow attendees to get up close to the actual machines and equipment that move, maintain, and build.

Our exhibitor hall allows you to talk to representatives of over 50 companies and learn about their products and services and how they may be of benefit to you. As part of the Year of the Short Lines special spaces will be reserved on the floor of the exhibitor hall for the region's railroads where they can showcase their services, operations, history, and people.

The One Industry Event You'll Want to Attend

The New England Rail Forum has become one of the most anticipated regional events for both attendees and exhibitors. The show's timely presentations, casual atmosphere, and affordable prices have attracted an audience of over 450 people and sold out the exhibition floor for five years running.
