Dennis:
It is the unanimous desire of the Executive Committee, on this, our 125th anniversary year, to recognize your efforts on behalf of the New England Railroad Club. You serve truly in the spirit of those many members before who have given of their time to make the Club the success it is.
You make little of the tremendous amount of work you do behind the scenes. Planning meetings, assisting with procurement of speakers, invitations to guests, reservations and ticketing are a small part of what you do. You guide a new President through his or her duties and responsibilities every year. Through your network of friends and business associates you have helped us obtain interesting and informative dinner speakers. You have provided direction for Expo since it's inception and contributed greatly to the success it currently enjoys. Your demeanor and professionalism is an inspiration to all of us who serve with you. You perform your duties as secretary of the Club with diligence and detail. Your historic knowledge, along with others in the Club, has provided the rich texture for the club's culture that we all enjoy and look forward to every meeting season. We must also acknowledge and express our appreciation to your wife Donna who has worked for many years in the Club's behalf as well. Donna has worked behind the scenes unseen over and above her meeting presence, and well we know her for her last minute fixes.
It is my pleasure to express the appreciation of the Executive Committee and club membership for all you do. You are the constant of our Club, it is you who propels each year from the past to the future.
Jonathan F. Shute
